KINTAMANI SUNRISE
Kintamani is a village in northern Bali. The village, together with several others, sits on the rim of the huge Mount Batur caldera about 1,500m above sea level. From here, you can see with your own eyes the dramatic views of Mount Batur volcano and Lake Batur. the amazing Batur caldera is seven miles in diameter and sixty feet deep.
Kintamani is one of the must-see tourist spots in Bali. The spectacular mountainous region around Kintamani with its deep Crater Lake and bubbling hot springs are something you cannot find anywhere else in Bali & is in the region that offers some of the most spectacular views to be found anywhere on the island. Batur Lake is the largest lake in Bali and provides water for an underground network of streams and springs across the southern slopes of the mountain.
When you plan your trip to Kintamani, spend at least a night and climb the volcano. You will never forget being able to just sit on top of the island and watch the sunrise. You don’t have to worry about where to spend the night as Kintamani offers you various types of accommodation. Many cheap cottages are available here. And remember unlike coastal areas you are in the Balinese mountains so be aware evenings in Kintamani are cool.
After watching the sunrise, you can then soak yourself in the hot spring of Toya Devasya in the village of Toya Bungkah. It’s not cheap but worth it. The hot water is very relaxing particularly after the early morning sunrise walks into the crater.
Kintamani is also famous for the local race of dog, Anjing Kintamani. These dogs are distinguished from other breeds and can be classified in the ‘hound’ group of working dogs. They are of medium size, have a good sense of balance and body proportions with strong bones covered by strong muscles. They are well suited as mountain dogs having medium long hair and are white, black or brown.
